Our process

  • Day 1

    We begin the process by measuring out all of the hard oils in our base: Tallow, Coconut Oil, and Shea Butter. These are melted together and stored for later use.

  • Day 2

    On the day we're ready to make soap, we mix the hard oils together with the remaining three oils (Olive, Rice Bran, and Castor), the fragrance, and colorants.

  • Day 3

    A day or two later, when the soap has firmed up and saponification is complete, we remove it from the molds and cut it into individual bars.

  • Days 4-60

    A few days after we cut the soap, we are able to bevel the edges. Once beveled, the bar is ready for a long cure. It takes six-to-eight weeks to cure soap. After the cure, the soap is wrapped and ready for sale!

  • Rice Bran Oil

    Rich in antioxidants and vitamin E for a healthy glow

  • Castor Oil

    Enhances lather and leaves skin feeling silky

Hi, I'm Stacey—the maker behind Root & Ritual.

I've always believed the little things matter. Before I ever poured my first batch of soap, I spent two decades designing digital products and experiences that made everyday life easier and more enjoyable. Today, I bring that same thoughtful approach to every product I make.

Root & Ritual was built on the idea that everyday essentials shouldn't feel like an afterthought. They should be beautifully crafted, made with ingredients you can feel good about, and turn ordinary routines into small moments worth slowing down for.

Every product is handcrafted in small batches in Washington state using thoughtfully selected ingredients, tested recipes, and an unwavering attention to detail. Whether you're reaching for your favorite soap after a long day or lighting a candle to unwind, my hope is that Root & Ritual helps make those everyday rituals feel just a little more intentional.
